Don't be a CyberBully!

We are learning so much about becoming digital citizens!  We are working together to read books, watch videos, and participate in activities.  We understand that we leave digital footprints.  We are reading books about bullying and how it can really affect others.  Common Sense Media has great videos we can watch and discuss with others as well!
It is important for families to have these discussions as well.  Make sure you read the weekly newsletter and check out Common Sense Media resources.

Digital Citizenship

This week we are beginning our research projects! We are learning all about using books and online materials.  As we get started, we are also learning about the responsibilities that come with using technology.  We are learning to become positive digital citizens.  Check out this website for ways you can enforce these ideas at home as well.  Common Sense Media is such an awesome resource for families and classrooms.  There are so many great ideas for home and parents as well!

Reviewing Fun!

Today we were reviewing for our rounding quiz.  We played a game boys against girls.  Things sure get competitive, but they all worked together wonderfully!  In the end...I ended up giving them very challenging problems to try to break the tie, but both teams rose to the challenge and we could never come up with a winner! :)

Reading Groups

Although our schedule has been CrAzY...we did make it to reading groups some this week.  We are getting a chance to split up into small groups.  One day we work and read with Mrs. Mattos, one day we practice partner reading, we practice spelling words, and we get to play on the blog games.

Shake, Rattle, & ROLL!

We have been playing many dice games in our groups.  We are learning to create numbers, name numbers, and show numbers.  After we create a number of our own, we are rounding the numbers to the nearest decade or hundred with our number lines.

Rounding with a Number Line

We have been learning all about place value!  We are using what we know about numbers to round to the nearest ten (decade numbers) or hundreds.  We are learning to round since it will make it easier to do mental math in our heads.  Tens and hundreds numbers make it easy to add quickly! :)

First Day JiTtErS!

We read a story all about the first day.  Many of us have JITTERS!  We learned that even teachers get the jitters! :) These are some of our pictures of us making words out of the letters FIRST DAY JITTERS.  Enjoy! :)
